Strong thunderstorms possible Thursday afternoon, severe weather threat increases Friday

The forecast from the U.S. National Weather Service shows strong thunderstorms are possible in Douglas County Thursday afternoon.

More thunderstorms are expected to develop across north-central and northeast Kansas Thursday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threat with afternoon storms, but a few isolated tornadoes could materialize in north-central Kansas.

Heavy rainfall and localized flooding are also possible.

The NWS forecast predicts the possibility for severe weather increases for Douglas County Friday afternoon and evening. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding will be the main concerns with Friday’s storms.
