We didn’t quit

To the editor:

It took almost 10 long years to find the one responsible for 9/11. America did not give up; we did not quit! We endeavored to persevere; then finally found and killed Osama bin Laden.

Some Americans shouted “USA, USA.” Some waved flags. Others ran around in circles singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Most of us just tried to grasp the reality that the biggest mass murderer in the world had finally met his fate and is dead! It was, perhaps, now time to put this sad chapter of history behind us, something which has haunted us for far too long.

Some talk of possible retaliation? This is always a possibility, and there will always be those who hate us and want us dead. Haven’t we been under this threat for the past 10 years? Won’t there always be some “zealot” who wants to kill Americans? That is something no one can control and is hard to anticipate.

The message America has sent to terrorists is simple: If you come after Americans and try to kill them, you crossed the line. You cannot run away and hide anywhere in the world. We will hunt you down and kill you no matter how long it takes. No matter where you try to hide, we will find you and you will pay!

Most of us do not usually celebrate a death. However, there are always exceptions to the rule, and this just may be one of them — if there ever was one!
