• Building Blocks Daycare has secured county approval for expanding and has begun construction. The building is at 1411 E. 1850 Road and was formerly Kaw Valley School, which later became the original Bishop Seabury Academy.

• P1 Group Inc., a Kansas City-based specialty contractor, announces the promotion of Gloria Keating to chief financial officer. The company has offices in Lenexa, Lawrence, Topeka, Wichita and Las Vegas. Keating, who works in the Lawrence office, previously served as the company’s finance director and assumed her new role in January.

• Scott Schultz, district administrator of Rural Water District No. 4, Douglas County, has achieved certification in utility management through Water University. Schultz has been manager of RWD 4 since 2000 and is the second person in Kansas to achieve this certification level.

• The U.S. Postal Service recognized the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Pharmacy Benefits Management Services, based in Lawrence, on Tuesdayin San Diegowith its Corporate Business Achievement Award. The award, one of three “best in class” awards presented annually at the National Postal Forum, recognizes customers who use postal products and services to deliver value and to help strengthen and grow their businesses.

• The Kansas Board of Accountancy has announced 29 candidates who have successfully passed the computerized examination in the January/February 2011 exam window. Area candidates include Jordan Bates and Christeen Thomas, Lawrence; and Lelanda Goyer, Ottawa.
