Lawrence police were called Wednesday afternoon to Dad Perry Park, where investigators examined what appeared to be a grave site.

About 7:45 p.m., Lawrence police Sgt. Dave Hubbel said police found what looked like some sort of shrine and a cross. However, no body was discovered.

Detectives will continue to investigate the scene to determine whether a crime occurred, but that doesn't appear to be the case, officers said.

Police initially responded to a call about 4:15 p.m. from a resident who found what appeared to be consistent with a small grave in a wooded portion of the park.

The park is at the southeast corner of Monterey Way and Harvard Road.

Doubt the Leach family finds your post humorous.

More of a dig at the LJW poster than anything else. If you've ever seen a Leach thread on here you'll know what I mean.

I know what you mean. I know some people aren't above deriving enjoyment from someone else's tragic misfortune. I thought you were above that. Apparently I am mistaken. My bad.

Put yourself in the Leach family's shoes - if your son had been missing for quite some time, and every time disturbed earth was discovered, someone started making wisecracks about your son's disappearance, would you think it was funny? I didn't think so.

Obviously it went over your head or you're reading too much into my post.

My dig was at LJW posters, not at the Leach family or their tragedy.

Get over yourself.

It's not about me - it's about your insensitivity.

You may have meant it one way, but to the casual observer, or a member of the Leach family, it could be taken entirely differently.

Your arrogance and insensitivity is unattractive.

My guess: a Santa Maria ceremony blessing the Jayhawks.

You mean Santeria?

Santa Maria was a ship that carried the pilgrims to America.

Eh- Santa Maria was one of Columbus' ships. Had a herp-derp moment.

Wow, I actually read the initial post as saying Santeria...what kind of moment was that?!

KU_cynic, LMAO!!! There IS a grave that COULD be located in East Lawrence's newly named HoopsDaddy James Naismith Park & Final Resting Place Of Final Four Prayers, Ceremonies & Misc March Madness Mojo Making...All Santerians, please note that future blessings may best be held on the more candle & eclectic friendly south side of 15th Street one block west of Harper...
