• Pilates Performance & Rehab announces the addition of Natalie Hoskins to their Lawrence studio. Hoskins has been licensed in Missouri and nationally certified for over 10 years. She has also trained to certify as a NASM personal trainer and a NASM corrective exercise specialist.

• Emily A. Hartz, Lawrence, received the Kansas Bar Association Pro Bono Certificate during the Installation and Awards Dinner of the KBA Annual Meeting and Joint Judicial Conference held June 10 in Topeka. Hartz is an attorney licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. She is on the board of the GaDuGi SafeCenter in Lawrence, is a member of the Judge Hugh Means Inn of Court, the Kansas Bar Association, and the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, and does additional pro bono work for Kansas Legal Services.

• Consign & Design, owned by Lori Maddox, opened June 3 in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, 925 Iowa. Consign & Design provides gently used furniture, home decor and collectibles. A grand opening is being planned in the near future.

• Bassem Chahine, a professional tobacconist with Lawrence Hookah House, 730 Mass., has qualified for membership in the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association.

• On Friday, Tenants to Homeowners, in partnership with the Take Charge Challenge, a campaign to make Lawrence a greener community, is featuring a green build open house at 2123 R.I. The open house will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., prior to the large Take Charge Challenge, Final Friday event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Global Café. The tour highlights a staggered frame design that prevents heat loss and increases energy efficiency. In addition to our tour of the innovative green frame, several Take Charge partners will provide tools for making a home more efficient.

• Trish LaRue, a financial adviser at Dan Cary and Associates financial service firm in Lawrence, attended a professional development conference April 25-27 in Las Vegas. Industry leading speakers at the conference covered a variety of topics regarding wealth accumulation, income protection and retirement.
