Russell ? Organizers of Russell County’s 140th anniversary celebration say two of its most famous former residents will attend the event.

Troy Waymaster is one of the organizers of Prairiesta, the four-day celebration that takes place every 10 years.

Waymaster said Monday that both Sens. Bob Dole and Arlen Specter will be attending the festival. Dole will be attending with his wife, Elizabeth, also a former senator, but from North Carolina.

Waymaster says both Specter and Dole will be in the event’s weekend parade.

The Salina Journal reported that others expected for the Prairiesta parade include Gov. Sam Brownback, Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach — plus 100 longhorn steers.
