Help at hand

To the editor:

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said it’s necessary to pay a Wichita law firm $300 an hour to “supplement the state’s resources,” because his office is overwhelmed with work.

Apparently, the workload for the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office is somewhat lighter, as Secretary of State Kris Kobach is on record during the election as saying he’ll moonlight doing consulting work around the country on immigration issues.

Since Kobach is a licensed attorney and an exempt (not subject to overtime pay) state employee with extra time on his hands, the state could save $300 an hour by having him assist the AG on the Planned Parenthood litigation. What’s more, Gov. Brownback can count on Kobach to vigorously defend his extreme right-wing agenda. A win-win for everyone.

THIS business consulting advice is offered to the taxpayers of Kansas free of charge.
