Lawrence Chamber of Commerce leaders announced Thursday afternoon they had canceled an appearance by Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kan., Monday morning at the Kansas University School of Pharmacy.

According to the chamber’s website, Jenkins would not be able to visit Lawrence due to congressional discussions on raising the national debt ceiling. The deadline is Aug. 2 to raise the federal borrowing limit or risk the government running out of money and possibly defaulting on its debt.
