Biblical capitalism

To the editor:

Mr. Collins (Public Forum, July 12) is absolutely correct: I do not like Mr. Brownback’s idea of governing on a faith basis. I do not know this Jesus he claims to serve. I’m not a “born-again Christian” like Mr. Collins, but the Jesus I know can be found in Matthew 25:42-45:

“‘For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.'”

Thank you to Rev. Peter Luckey for opening Plymouth Church Monday evening and to all the governing officials and local citizens who showed up to address the SRS travesty Mr. Brownback has foisted upon our community.

For more information on Mr. Brownback’s faith-based vision, acquaint yourself with Jeff Sharlet and his books and articles on “The Family.” It’s a scary future if we let Mr. Brownback and those of his ilk get away with governing in the name of (their brand) of faith (biblical capitalism). Looks a lot like a theocratic oligarchy to me.
