Applications will be taken until July 29 for Ballard Community Services’ annual school kit program, which provides school supplies to children from families that qualify for free or reduced-price school lunches.

Anyone interested in donating to the program can take backpacks, binders, notebooks, filler paper, pens, pencils or gift cards to Ballard Center, 708 Elm St., or Penn House, 1035 Pa. Monetary donations should be mailed to Ballard Community Services, P.O. Box 7, Lawrence, KS 66044, and donors should indicate the funds are for the school kit program.

To apply for the program, visit Ballard of Penn House to sign up. Supplies will be distributed Aug. 8.
