Notable votes

To the editor:

According to the Congressional Record, the voting record of our two Kansas senators and our four representatives is as follows:

• All four U.S. House members voted against funding expanded oversight into food processing to prevent food poisoning.

• All four voted against education for poor women and infants in regard to breastfeeding and reduced WIC services by 14 percent.

• All four voted against funding oversight of derivatives trading, the main bad guys of our recession.

• Worst of all, all four voted against funding programs to try to help prevent the suicides of our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

Our two senators voted to protect huge subsidies to ethanol companies.

When are we going to wake up and elect people who have the welfare of the average and vulnerable citizens first in their minds and hearts, NOT the lobbyists and big business?
