Lawrence Aquahawks swim team is hosting the Wave the Wheat swim meet Thursday through Sunday at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.

The event is the biggest in the Missouri Valley swimming region, which includes teams from Missouri and Kansas. About 700 swimmers, ages 8-18, are expected to race in various categories during the three-day competition. Organizers expect up to 1,500 spectators to attend.

The Indoor Aquatic Center will have adjusted hours during the event. The lap pool will be closed at 1 p.m. Thursday and reopens to the public on Sunday. The leisure pool also will be closed during that time. For more information, visit www.aquahawks.org.
