Four Lawrence residents among applicants for Kansas appeals court

? Nineteen people, including four from Lawrence, have applied for a position on the Kansas Court of Appeals.

Those from Lawrence seeking the job are James A.D. Bartle, Deborah L. Hughes, Christine M.T. Ladner, and Robert Ramsdell.

A nominating commission will convene Feb. 17-18 to conduct interviews in the Court of Appeals courtroom. The interviews are open to the public. The commission will provide three names to Gov. Sam Brownback, who will make the appointment.

The vacancy on the court was created by the appointment of Judge Nancy Moritz Caplinger to the Kansas Supreme Court.
