— A truck driver from Kansas who was caught at the U.S.-Canada border in North Dakota with child pornography has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 27-year-old Kenneth Mahoney Jr. of Topeka, Kan., pleaded guilty last October to possession and transportation of child porn.

Purdon says that when Mahoney was stopped at the border, authorities confiscated a laptop computer, CDs and DVDs that contained nearly 6,500 images and 250 videos of child porn.

so do they just randomly check laptops at the border?

or, did they have some info that led them to stop this perp?

Uhhh, that should be 6.5 years for each child porn image and video, to run consecutively, judge.
