? A man accused of killing a Leavenworth couple in a hit-and-run accident is now charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Charges against Millard E. Wilkens were upgraded Wednesday when he appeared in Leavenworth County Court.

The 39-year-old Wilkens had been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter with driving under the influence in the deaths of Teresa and Lewis McMillen. They were hit Nov. 20 as they walked home in Leavenworth. Teresa McMillen died that day, Lewis McMillen died Dec. 11.
