Pittsburg needs new home for 890 American flags used in Avenue of Flags display

? The 890 American flags used in Pittsburg’s Avenue of Flags every Memorial Day need a new home.

Martin Dickinson, chairman of the Avenue of Flags event, says the building that houses the flags may be more than 100 years old, and it’s starting to fall apart.

Dickinson says the older part of the storage building is splitting apart from a newer addition, causing leaking and other damage.

The Pittsburg Morning Sun reports that the organization is planning a fundraising effort to raise enough money to fix the building, or to build a new one. Dickinson says fixing the current building would cost about $30,000.
