Hundreds of Westar Energy customers in Douglas County lost power just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the company’s website.

The outage happened near 25th and Alabama streets.

According to Westar Energy representative Nick Bundy, the outage was caused by a switch failure on a power pole.

Though power has been restored, crews still have to replace the power pole. Bundy said customers should not lose power during that process.

At one point as many as 750 customers were without power, but that number decreased after crews rerouted circuits in the area.
