A 56-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Saturday after threatening a woman with a knife.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Randy Roberts, the incident occurred in the 800 block of Locust Street. The suspect and victim had been engaged in a domestic argument for about 24 hours. Roberts said the man battered the 52-year-old woman several times and threatened her with a knife during the argument.

The woman was able to call police, who arrested the man. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail about 9:30 p.m. on charges of aggravated assault, domestic battery, criminal threat and two drug charges.
