Three men accused of participating in a California-based drug ring have been convicted in federal court.

Prosecutors said traffickers used various methods to transport drugs and money between California and Kansas. The three were accused of setting up a distribution center in Kansas that distributed cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana in a variety of places in Kansas and Missouri, including Lawrence.

The three men were accused of installing hidden compartments in cars and traveling by Greyhound bus between California and Kansas to transport drugs and money, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office.

Investigators tracked the three men to houses and hotels in Lawrence, Shawnee, Overland Park, the Argosy Casino Hotel in the Kansas City, Mo., area, the Legends Outlet Mall in Kansas City, Kan., and other locations.

Convicted were:

• Alfred Anaya, 39, San Fernando, Calif., who was convicted of one count of conspiracy to possess more than 5 kilograms of cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as methamphetamine and marijuana, and two counts of attempting to intimidate a witness.

• James Anthony Clark, Overland Park, who was convicted of one count of conspiracy to possess more than 5 kilograms of cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as methamphetamine and marijuana.

• Justin Selby, 34, Excelsior Springs, Mo., who was convicted of one count of conspiracy to possess more than 5 kilograms of cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as methamphetamine and marijuana.

Get your facts straight LJW. None of the three men were convicted of all three drugs. They each were convicted of only two of the drugs.

Selby- Meth and Marijuana. No cocaine. Clark- Meth and Marijuana. No cocaine. Anaya- Meth and Cocaine. No Marijuana.

They probably just don't know how to read charging complaints or informations. The documents usually list a number of drugs covered by the statute even if the person was actually charged with a specific drug.
