Former KU student Adam Lloyd Shepard will face first-degree murder charges in the hit-and-run death of former Lawrence resident Spencer Schott in Jacksonville Beach.

United States Marshals on Friday arrested a man wanted in connection with the hit-and-run death of 1993 Lawrence High graduate Spencer Schott, according to Sgt. Tom Bingham of the Jacksonville Beach Police.

Bingham said Adam Shepard, 30, was arrested by marshals in the Chicago area Friday afternoon, though Bingham wasn't able to provide other details about the capture.

Shepard is accused of running his vehicle into and killing Schott, 35, in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., on Jan. 22. Shepard had ties to Topeka, and police had located an abandoned car connected to Shepard on Jan. 29 in the Topeka area.

Bingham said Shepard will be extradited back to Florida, where he faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatality accident.

@shaun hittle, what about: "Is there a connection between the 2, before the hit & run? Did they both just coincidentally end up in Jax Beach?"

what do we know about this question?

xclusive85, It's LJW policy to not post the names of those accused in sex crimes until and if there's a conviction. There are some exceptions to this from time to time.

However, full names of everyone arrested and booked into the Doug. Co. Jail can be obtained on their website in the booking log recap section.

Hope that helps

Haven't watched this closely ...

Is there a connection between the 2, before the hit & run? Did they both just coincidentally end up in Jax Beach? Odd, or at least against the odds, if there's not a connection.

Why do you post this guy's name and not the guy from Edgerton arrested for child sex crimes?! Pleas post them all!

I'm curious to see how Florida laws compare with Kansas.....Florida certainly made a much bigger deal out of the search for this individual....unlike the fatality hit and run here where the guy served 6 months of county jail time for it.
