• Jeff Sigler, Lawrence, has been elected vice chairman of the Kansas Independent Pharmacy Service Corp.. Sigler owns Sigler Pharmacy at 4525 W. Sixth St. and co-owns Sigler Pharmacy at 4951 W. 18th St. His term begins in January.

• Pat McCandless of Stephens Real Estate has completed the Kansas Graduate Realtor Institute Program. The GRI designation is awarded to Realtors who are members of local, state and national Realtor associations and who completed at least 90 hours of coursework.

• The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce has set its annual meeting for the evening of Jan. 27 at Holiday Inn Lawrence. Neeli Bendapudi, dean of Kansas University’s School of Business, will give the keynote address. For more information, contact the chamber, 865-4411.

• The chamber’s Legislative Preview Breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H. The event will include presentations on legislative priorities from the city, county, chamber, school district and Kansas University, as well as comments from the local legislative delegation. • The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department on Dec. 16 presented Tom Wilkerson Teamwork Awards. The annual honor is named for the former assistant director of the department. Recipients this year are Lynn Applegate, facility maintenance supervisor; Steve Jacob, Bill Rogers and John Shrum, all park and facility maintenance II; Jessie Kwatamdia, Douglas County Senior Services; the city’s Public Works Department; Micah Seybold, GIS coordinator; Johnson and Nancy Shockley, volunteers with Special Populations programming; Walt Ward, city surveyor; and, for their work on the playground along the Burroughs Creek Trail at 15th Street: Black & Veatch, Westar Energy, Kissick Construction, Electrical Corporation of America, Hammel Scale of Kansas City Inc., Wolf Construction, Midwest Concrete Materials and Atlas surveyors.
