Water releases from Perry, Milford and Tuttle Creek lakes will be increased, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Wednesday.

The Corps said the increased releases shouldn’t have a significant effect on Missouri River flooding, which has been on the decline.

Perry is 6.8 feet higher than the normal pool, Milford, 13.8 feet, and Tuttle Creek, 17.25 feet.

The Kansas City District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will start releasing 200 cubic feet per second from Perry, 1,500 cfs from Milford, and 1,000 cfs from Tuttle Creek. The release should slow pool rises at the lakes and could even lower them if conditions are dry, the district said.

The Kansas City district said the Missouri River stages will continue to decline even with the additional water from the lakes.
