To the editor:

I say “NO” to special taxing districts. The companies will eventually more than make up for the expenses that are created when they build any establishment. The city population should not be required to help them maintain a zero balance at a quicker rate. Every business should take on an equal percentage for success or failure.

I will not shop at those special taxing districts. I believe Lawrence citizens should help prove a point against this type of incentive by letting the city commissioners know we don’t approve of special tax areas and we should refuse to do business at locations that have the special tax incentive. Putting up signs after giving special benefits isn’t the answer. NOT giving them in the first place is.
