Local soldiers

In your excellent coverage of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War battle of Wilson’s Creek, it should be noted that many residents of Lawrence actually fought in that battle as members of the Second Regiment, Kansas Volunteer Infantry. Included on the Union side was my great-grandfather, Horace Ladd Moore, who later served in Congress from Douglas County and as president of the Kansas State Historical Society.
