Firebirds baseball falls for just second time

? The Free State baseball team lost just its second game, falling, 5-1, to Olathe Northwest on Tuesday.

The Firebirds scored their lone run in the first.

Colin Toalson led Free State, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk. Montana Samuels was 1-for-1 with two walks.

Firebirds coach Mike Hill gave credit to the Northwest pitcher, but said his team didn’t play that well.

“We weren’t competitive at the plate,” Hill said.

Free State (11-2) will try to bounce back against Shawnee Mission West on Thursday at home.
