Two Tonganoxie residents were injured Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident about nine miles northeast of Lawrence, according to the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s office.

According to an accident report, driver Bret A. Clark, 48, lost control of a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle on a curve east of 243rd Street on U.S. Highway 24-40. The accident occurred just after 4 p.m.

Officers said that the motorcycle had a worn rear tire and that Clark lost control on sand on the road. The motorcycle went into a ditch and flipped over.

Clark was taken via LifeStar helicopter ambulance to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., and his passenger Lorie A. Reavis, 44, was taken to KU Hospital via ambulance, according to the accident report.

No condition updates were available late Monday.
