Bloom ? A head-on collision of two semitrailers in southwest Kansas has left two people dead.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 54 near the Ford County town of Bloom, about 20 miles south of Dodge City.

Names of the victims have not been released. The two people killed were in one of the trucks. No information was available on the other driver.

The highway was closed for several hours as troopers investigated the accident.
