Volunteers sought to pick up trash at Clinton Lake, Kansas River

This weekend, volunteers will gather at Clinton Lake and along the Kansas River to pick up trash. And area residents are invited to help.

The 27th annual Clinton Lake cleanup is set for Saturday.

Volunteers — who will receive trashbags and cleanup areas when they arrive — are asked to gather and register at Shelter No. 1 in Overlook Park. The cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A lunch of hot dogs, soda and chips will be provided. For more information, call Kipp Walters, 843-7665.

And Sunday afternoon, volunteers will work on the Kansas River bank adjacent to SpringHill Suites Hotel by Marriott. Staff from the hotel, along with members of Friends of the Kaw and other volunteers will work from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
