World Company human resources director wins award

Kelly Calvert
Kelly Calvert, human resources director for The World Company, is the recipient of the 2010 George Trombold Achievement Award, an honor given by the Kansas State Council of Society for Human Resource Management.
The award, named for a highly respected former vice president of human resources at the Boeing Company, is given each year to a Kansas human resource professional who excels within the field of human resources and serves as a volunteer leader in the community. Calvert received the award Friday at the organization’s state conference in Overland Park.
Calvert, who has been at The World Company for six years, works with more than 600 employees.
Calvert is also a 21-year member of the Society for Human Resource Management’s local affiliated Jayhawk chapter. There she has served in many roles including president. During her time with the group, Calvert has seen the local organization grow in membership and improve its financial standing and programming. Currently, Calvert is the chapter’s liaison to the Kansas University student chapter.
“It’s amazing and rewarding to be recognized by my peers,” she said about the honor she received.
Calvert serves on two area school site councils, the Community Career Connection committee and Success by Six board. She is also active with Brownies and Girl Scouts, and she leads a Sunday school class.
