Annual Strong Man games to be held Saturday in Watson Park

Dozens of competitors on Saturday will attempt to pull and push a truck, throw a tractor tire and run through a zig-zag maze carrying 160-pound bar bells on each side, all in a timed competition in Watson Park.

Next Level Performance gym will host its second annual Strong Man games from 10:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“Lifting is 90 percent mental and 10 percent physical, so if your head is not in the moment at that time you will not do very well,” said weight trainer Aaron Combs who plans to compete.

Registration is available at the competition, which is divided by men and women and novice, professional and teams.

“We welcome people to walk up and join in,” said Scott Elliott, general manager. “A walk through of the competition starts at 9:30 and I believe a lot of people will walk through and say, I can do this.”

While the main events are aimed at seasoned lifters, other activities were created for families, including an obstacle course with a rock wall, a cargo net and monkey bars.
