Free State volleyball swept in tourney

September 12, 2010

— Free State High’s volleyball team lost all four of its matches at the Mo-Kan Tournament on Saturday at Lee’s Summit West High.

The Firebirds were swept by Roeland Park Bishop Miege (25-10, 25-13), Lee’s Summit (25-16, 25-14), Ballwin, Mo., Lafayette (25-16, 25-14), and Kansas City, Mo., O’Hara (25-9, 25-17).

Free State (3-4) will play host to a quadrangular on Thursday.

Now, I wouldn't say unfortunate - the Mo-Kan tourney is a great opportunity to 'sharpen the steel' by playing some of the real powerhouse teams in the region. Free State's team is really young this year, and shows a lot of promise.
