Three arrested in connection with south Lawrence robbery

Three Lawrence men were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a south Lawrence robbery investigation, and police said more arrests are possible.

Lawrence police were initially notified about an armed robbery shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday. They were told someone was walking in the area of 33rd Street and Ousdahl Road when the victim was robbed at gunpoint and then possibly struck with the gun.

The victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, called it an ongoing investigation and said additional information was unavailable Tuesday.

A 19-year-old man and 18-year-old man were arrested early Tuesday in the 3400 block of West Sixth Street on charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on the same charges at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Eldridge Court.

Douglas County prosecutors expect the defendants to appear before a judge this afternoon. Sarna confirmed the arrests were related to the robbery investigation.

“More arrests are possible as the investigation is ongoing,” he said. “That is all that is being released at this time.”
