To the editor:

The growing idea that Barack Obama is a Muslim is symbolic of a bigger problem in America. President Obama is a Christian. He has been a Christian since his mid 20s. His presidential campaign was almost derailed because of comments made by his “Christian” minister, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.

There is NO evidence that refutes the fact of the president’s Christian religious beliefs. Yet, according to recent polls, a growing number of Americans believe our president to be a Muslim (read: terrorist?). This can only be explained by many Americans mindlessly lapping up the misleading statements, innuendoes and outright lies being fed to them.

Don’t be a puppet to ANY political party. Find respected, independent news sources (they are still out there). Think about all sides of an issue and then make your decision. Being a true citizen of a democracy requires more time and effort than deciding what you want on a cheeseburger.
