— Lawrence High’s soccer season ended with a 3-0 regionals loss on Tuesday against Manhattan.

“They were bigger, faster and stronger,” LHS coach Mike Murphy said.

Murphy cited some good saves by senior goalkeeper Julio Salazar.

The Lions finished their season at 4-12-1. Manhattan improved to 8-7-1.

Would there every be the occasion when the LJWorld wouldn't send a reporter to an away LHS football regional game? Why couldn't there be someone in Manhattan to give us a more complete story as to what happened?

I think it unfortuante that while some could consider soccer as a minor sport, it is very, very big on my list. I'm sure that I'm not alone in wanting more consistent and complete coverage of local participation in the game.
