Modest plan
To the editor:
“Americans for Prosperity,” a well-funded national group, has bought a big ad our paper telling us not to vote for improving our public library.
Pay no attention! The plan to improve library services, which are free for everyone in Douglas County, is modest, reasonable and includes a very much needed parking garage.
The average price for a house in Lawrence is $200,000. The 1.5-mill levy for the library and parking expansion will cost that homeowner just $2.88 a month or $34.50 a year. That is less than a penny a day for essential educational services for everyone and parking too.
Vote “yes” for the library.
