Two injured in Tuesday morning wreck on U.S. Highway 59

A Lawrence man and an Overland Park man went to the hospital Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 59 south of the Baldwin Junction.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2009 Honda Accord at 7:37 a.m. was traveling south and rear-ended a 1996 Ford pickup truck that had stopped on the highway and was waiting to make a left-hand turn. The driver of the Accord, Richard K. Johnson, 50, Lawrence, was taken by private vehicle to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. A passenger in the Ford, Cory A. Koster, 29, of Overland Park, was also taken to LMH.
