KU nominates three students for Rhodes, Marshall scholarships

Kansas University has announced three nominees to compete for Rhodes and Marshall scholarships this year.

The scholarships provide for graduate study in the United Kingdom.

The Rhodes Foundation awards 32 scholarships each year and the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission of Britain annually awards up to 40 scholarships.

KU’s three nominees are:

• Christopher Winters Martin, a senior from Dodge City and Geneva, Ala., who is majoring in architectural engineering. He is competing for a Marshall scholarship.

• Rachelle Briana Netzer, a spring 2010 graduate in political science from Lawrence. She is competing for a Rhodes scholarship.

• Chantz Palmer Thomas, a senior majoring in microbiology and history from Lindsborg. He is competing for both scholarships.

Scholarship winners will be selected following finalist interviews in November.
