Overland Park ? Free State High’s volleyball team went 2-1 at a triangular Thursday at Shawnee Mission West.

The Firebirds defeated SM West, 25-10, 25-23, and Leavenworth, 25-22, 13-25, 25-17. They lost to Gardner Edgerton 7-25, 21-25.

Free State played without middle hitter Meaghan Holmes. Holmes injured her knee against Lawrence High and found out Thursday she is likely out for the season.

The Firebirds (11-13) play Tuesday at Shawnee Heights.
