Scotch Share the Warmth program to give away coats in Lawrence on Friday and Saturday

Hundreds of clean, warm coats will be given away Friday and Saturday to those who need them.

The event is part of the 24th Annual Scotch Share the Warmth program. Over the past few weeks, community members have been donating coats, blankets, gloves and scarves that are in good condition. Scotch Cleaners dry cleans the coats and then gives them away to those who need them.

Coats will be handed out from 9 a.m. to noon Friday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will take place at the I-70 Business Center, which is the former Tanger Mall, in space No. 119 just north of the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicles office.

The giveaway will be conducted by the Salvation Army. Groups needing special times or assistance can make an appointment by calling the Salvation Army at 843-4188.
