Former Westar executive seeks destruction of arrest records

? Prosecutors have until Nov. 29 to answer a former Westar Energy executive’s motion to have his arrest records destroyed now that charges against him have been dismissed.

U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson set the deadline Monday for prosecutors in the government’s case against Douglas Lake of New Canaan, Conn.

Lake was a top strategy officer at the Topeka-based utility when he and then-CEO David Wittig were charged in 2003 with conspiring to inflate their compensation.

Prosecutors dropped the charges in August as Wittig and Lake awaited a third trial.

Lake wants a court order for the destruction of all fingerprints, photographs and records in Justice Department databases.
