Setting the tone

To the editor:

It’s a given in management that the person at the top sets the tone for his entire organization, so it’s fair to ask what kind of example Lew Perkins set. Was it an example of ethical behavior toward Kansas University’s athletes and their loyal supporters, like the environment surrounding Bob Frederick? Or was it an example of greed at both the institutional and personal level, always implying that money and lots of it comes first?

If the latter, should we be surprised that the athletic department’s ticket-handlers imitated it?
