A new barbecue contest, “Fire in the Hole,” is coming to Lawrence in June, sponsored by the local chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

For a $100 entry fee, plus supplies, teams can still register by the June 4 deadline.

The contest will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. June 19 at the Eagles Lodge, 1803 W. Sixth St.

Tickets are $6 a person. Proceeds from the event benefit Douglas County Toys for Tots.
