Officers injured after Topeka traffic stop

? Two law enforcement officers have been injured in a crash involving at least two vehicles on Interstate 70 in Topeka.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports the accident occurred about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday after a Topeka police officer and a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper pulled a car over for a traffic stop.

Police spokeswoman Kristen Veverka says the officers were hit by a vehicle. Veverka says the two were hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Two or three other people were also injured, although Veverka said it was unclear which vehicle they had been riding in. She did not know their conditions.

Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed at the U.S. 75 interchange while the crash was investigate.
