The Lawrence High-Free State baseball game scheduled for Monday night has been rescheduled for Wednesday because of rain.

Round 1 of this year's baseball city showdown now will be played at 6 p.m. Wednesday at LHS.

The Lions and Firebirds will play Round 2 on Thursday at Kansas University's Hoglund Ballpark. First pitch for that game is set for 7 p.m.

Why not have a 3 game series? One at LHS, Free State, and then Hoglund

The Kansas high school athletic association limits the high school baseball season to 20 regular season games, so three games against the same opponent is unlikely.

It is a good thing we have the new fields or the rivalry may not be played this week at all.
