Around and about in local business

• Barbara Braa, CornerBank vice president, trust and investment officer, and Isla Richards, R.N., presented “Preventing Financial Exploitation of Elders” April 30 at the Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina. The program was presented by Kansas Advocates for Better Care, for which Braa is serving as president this year. The program was free, thanks to a grant from the Kansas Department on Aging.

• Three board members, Jeanine Murphy of District 3, Ralph Phillips of District 9, and Harlan Hunt of District 8, were re-elected to their posts during the Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Cooperative’s annual business meeting April 21.

• The Kansas Board of Accountancy has announced 33 candidates who have successfully passed the computerized examination in the January/February 2010 exam window. Area candidates include Monika Spinger of Lawrence, and Stephanie Spencer of Meriden.
