Patient's injuries not believed to be life threatening

One person was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bike.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Damon Thomas, the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of 34th and Iowa streets.

Thomas said the woman was riding her bike eastbound through the crosswalk while the light in her direction was red. The woman did not have lights on the front or back of her bike and was not wearing a helmet.

A vehicle entered the intersection with a green light and struck the bicyclist. The bicycle became trapped underneath the vehicle.
