Lawrence police on Tuesday said a 35-year-old man stepped in front of an eastbound car Friday night near Sixth and Maine streets but suffered no apparent injuries.

Police are investigating alcohol as a contributing factor to the incident, spokeswoman Kim Murphree said.

Officers were called to Sixth and Maine streets just before midnight Friday and found the 35-year-old man lying next to a telephone pole on the south side of Sixth Street.

As officers and paramedics stabilized the pedestrian for the ambulance trip to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, they determined he did not suffer any apparent injuries, Murphree said.

Police did not cite the driver of the car.

Can't speak for all situations but when I had a kid step out in front of me , i had minor damage to the front of my truck. The kids parents homeowners insurance offered to take care of it and I just turned it down cuz the damage was really minor.

consumer1:

The no fault law has nothing to do with damages to property. What it covers or refers to is injuries. In the state of Kansas being a no fault state, this means if we are ever injured in an accident involving a vehicle, whether you are a pedestrian, passenger, or driver, those injuries are always paid from your own auto policy first. Then if the accident was not your fault, after your personal coverage is exhausted the other insurance company would be responsible. As far as the damages to the vehicle, I highly doubt the state would have any liability. Worse case, the driver would turn damages into their own company, but would not suffer a rate increase because the accident was not their fault. Hope that helps understand the no fault a little better.

So, I understand why my post above was removed-- but why not consumer1's post to which I was replying, and which is clearly a violation of posting rules?

Put your big-boy pants on, bozo & quit whining.

Not whining-- just seeking a bit of explanation for the inconsistency in enforcing the rules-- consistency that they eventually showed.

And just for the record, my "bozo" derives from Firesign Theater's "We're All Bozos on This Bus" album-- something that's verified hundreds of times a day on this forum of a bus.
