Right to disagree

To the editor:

Referencing the Saturday, March 27, Journal-World page 3B, “Democrats: GOP should denounce health care critics.” This is a Democrat opinion of a Republican opinion.

As a specific example, Anthony Hensley said, “It’s time to embrace federal health care instead of opting out of it.” That is his opinion of specific legislation.

To my knowledge, based on the Constitution, we still have the right to publicly express opinions. It is my opinion that Republicans did not “opt out” of health care reform, but rather were excluded from true and open discussion of the matter as promised by Mr. Obama during his campaign.

Let us hope that we continue to be permitted to “opt in” to our right to express opinions — even those which disagree with the ruling party.
