Speak up

To the editor:

Now the opponents of the health bill are raging in the streets, on TV and everywhere they can make noise.

Where are we, the proponents of this wonderful start to help the great percentage of needy people in our country? Everyone I know who is on Medicare, content with the wonderful coverage we have, really understands the need of those younger than we are.

We Americans look at places in need all over the world and give great quantities of money to send doctors, nurses, medical supplies and everything else needed to countries other than our own. Where are these people when they see the identical physical and mental needs in our own country? I just don’t understand it.

We could have done better if we had passed legislation to give all of us the same health benefits that our federal representatives have or as good as we on Medicare have, but, for goodness sake, let’s give the needy in our land what we now can.

We who have sat back, silently waiting for this good program to pass, let’s move now! Phone, write to your congressmen. Congratulate them for their “yes” votes. Express sadness about their “no” votes. Do something today!
