Lawrence auto dealership is ‘business as usual’ after feds search two SW Kansas lots

As federal, state and local authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday at a Liberal auto dealership, a Lawrence dealership with ties to the one in southwest Kansas was operating on Wednesday.

“Our store is open and functioning. It’s business as usual up here,” said Kye Rich, a manager at Auto Exchange, 1225 E. 23rd St. “I can’t comment on anything in Liberal.”

An FBI spokeswoman said agents executed a search warrant on Tuesday in Liberal at two lots associated with Andrade Auto Exchange. According to media reports, an employee at one of the Liberal lots has been taken into custody.

However, federal and state authorities have also not commented on the specifics of the investigation. Jim Cross, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office, said as of Wednesday afternoon no charges had been filed in connection with the investigation.

Rich said on Wednesday that no authorities had come to talk with anyone at the Lawrence location.
